About "It's the Tone"

Doug Woolverton and I wrote and recorded this music between 2012 and 2014. We wanted to produce a complete album with at least eight songs, but we both got busy and the project fell by the wayside.

We agreed we would release it as a five-song EP "at some time" but it never felt like the right time until now.

This music is life-affirming and deeply emotional, even though there are no words. The only vocals are oohs and ahs on A Typical Day.

During the recording sessions, we kept focusing on the tone of the trumpet and guitar, even the other instruments, rather than the notes. It would make more sense to play a single long note that sounded amazing than a virtuosic run meant to impress.
